Review: Winter Beanie

I started knitting a winter beanie for my husband a couple of days ago. Its just made using a stray grey acrylic yarn and a stray white acrylic. Both 8 ply. I used 5.5mm DPN’s as thats what I had on hand and the pattern is by Judy Gibson. You can work this pattern in the round using circular needles or DPN’s or the author has also included instructions on how to work it with flat needles.

You start off with a 1×1 rib knit then after an inch you can continue on with a 2×2 rib or a garter rib. I picked 2×2 rib. I knitted that for 6 inches before starting the decreases. Even with the decreasing in the crown of the beanie, its turned out too short in the length for my husband. Even for myself its a little too short so the next beanie will have at least an inch and a half added to it before I start to decrease.

You can find the pattern through Judy Gibsons site here or if you are a member of Ravelry, here.

All in all, I really enjoyed working on this beanie and will be moving onto the next one very shortly.
