Bad Easter!

I’ve been very very naughty. I haven’t picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook or anything crafty for the last two weeks at least! Each time I am busy doing something that I can daydream my way through (like the dishes) I think, right, you are going to cast on something today. I don’t care if its your jumper, a teddy bear or a cushion cover. You ARE going to do it. Then I get to bed and think, awww I still didn’t do anything!

Easter has been a blur. We had my family down to spend it with us and it was fantastic. Lots of food and lots of love. We had a ball. It also tried to sway me off my new “lifestyle” of getting healthy. It won for the day, but I was right back on the bike the next day. *Very* happy with myself on that one.

Anyway, I promise there will be something to show over the next couple of days. Cross my fingers…

Cheers,

Front done – Winter Jumper

Well the front of my winter jumper has been completed. I just finished sewing in my ends yesterday morning. When I laid it out on the blanket to take a pic, it looks absolutely huge. I want to block it but I know I should wait till I have the back done. I’ve held off starting the back for a couple of days because embarrassingly my right elbow has been starting to hurt after so much continuous knitting and the fabric is also getting kind of heavy. For shame. Ah well. Another couple of days and I will be straight back into it.

Also many apologies for the absolutely appalling photograph. Nothing was behaving yesterday.

Cheers,

Winter Jumper Update take 1

So my jumper has been on my needles for a couple of days now. I have managed to get two stripes down and about 9 rows into my third stripe. I would be much further along if I hadn’t had to frog about 10 rows….twice.

Clothes here I come

As of last night, I started my very first jumper and I’m making it for myself. Winter can be a bitter affair in my neck of the woods and I need a lovely warm jumper to keep me happy. When I was a teenager, I had a black garter stitch knit jumper that I literally wore till it fell apart. It took roughly 5 years for that to happen and I would wear it just about everywhere. I loved it oh so much. To be truthful, it’s still in my cupboard now. It wouldn’t have a chance in hell of fitting me, but its still there.

For someone special

Eventually this little bear will be for someone special. A special little newborn. Let’s face it, every newborn is special. But that’s a whole other topic!

Hip hip hippo done

So I finished off the pink Hippo softie that I was making for one of my friends who is having her second baby in a couple of days/weeks. Only problem being they don’t know the sex of the baby but I will jigger something when bubs in born.

Sneak peek

Can you guess what these are? I suppose its not that hard. Four little legs for the new project I am working on although something is not right as I can’t get the hang of the short rows for its head!

Blocked and wrapped

So the baby blanket for Campbell Jon has been washed, blocked and ready to be sent off today. I am so very happy with how it turned out. The lace pattern is easy to remember after doing a few repeats. There were a few times that I had to frog a couple of lines due to knitting late at night and dropping or forgetting to do a yarn over. Instead of using straight needles for this project, I used a circular needle so the blanket wouldn’t be hard to handle and all bunched up.

Handbag for a little lady

I couldn’t even tell you when I started this bag. It was either at the beginning of last year, or even the year before. All I know is that I finally sewed a lining into it this morning. And lazily I machine sewed it. Our daughter, at every chance, has been carrying around my handbag like a proper little lady and I have been seeing out of the corner of my eye, this unfinished crochet bag every time I walked past the book shelf in the study that it had been banished to till I found the time and inclination to finish it. This morning the time had come. I even had the lining pinned into it. I only had to sit down for a whole 2 minutes and sew it in. I am happy to say that it’s done once and for all. As soon as Olivia saw it, it was promptly snatched and carried into the lounge room with her morning sippy cup of milk. Now together with cup and bag, she is happily sitting down and watching Postman Pat. What a lovely start to the day.

Better late than never…

Oh so busy… I have so many idea’s of things I want to try but seriously do not have the time to do any of it. We have been absolutely flat out with our little munchkin who is a whopping 15 months old now.
One of my first cousin’s have just welcomed a gorgeous baby boy into their family. For the past couple of weeks, any spare time I have had, has been put to working on a pram blanket for him. They live in Qld, so there wont be much use for it at the moment but come the colder months and hopefully they will put it to good use. I followed a pattern through Ravelry which you can find here.

From my playgroup, we also have another three mums who are all expecting new bubs and since my resolution for the year is all gifts are handmade, I’m seriously needing to get my butt into gear. Our first new bub is due in 6 weeks. I have a few teddy bears which I would love to try and knit for all the newies on the way.

And yet another new life is being introduced into our family. We are bringing home a Whippet pup on Saturday which needs plenty of jumpers knitted for him to keep lovely and cosy. If anyone has any knitting patterns for whippet pups to share, they would be greatly appreciated.
