Hip hip hippo done

So I finished off the pink Hippo softie that I was making for one of my friends who is having her second baby in a couple of days/weeks. Only problem being they don’t know the sex of the baby but I will jigger something when bubs in born.

We have, I believe, another 2 ladies who are having babies this year, in our playgroup, so my little pink hippo won’t go to waste.
The hippo didn’t knit up as big as I thought it was going to be. In some of the photo’s from other people’s projects, the head looks bigger than mine but I’m still delighted with how it turned out. I’m not sure why I thought it would be bigger. While I was stuffing it with fibre fill, I put a little cat bell in there which has its own cage so it tinkles when shaken. Sounds really cute. It measures around 5 inches in height which really when you think about it, is a perfect size for a baby to hold.
The pattern can be found through Ravelry, which you have to log in to but membership is free and its a fantastic community to be apart of.
